Now, this is the first piece I've ever done on Modo. I still used 3DCoat for most of the sculpting so the actual figure wasn't terribly much influenced. BUT, the lights and the environment and the texturing was both quite difficult and extremely gratifying to do in Modo. In some ways, I don't think I could have made this piece look like it does now in Cinema4D. Especially on the texturing end of the equation, I have no idea how I'd done the tricks I did in C4D.

Also, I forgot to upload this on Wednesday. Sorry about that.

Well, it IS a sculpture. Although not a physical one, which is what I assume you meant. I don't really do "traditional" 3D art at all, I do three dimensional sculptures on computer.  So that might sort of account for the first impression.

Yup, I did take it for a traditional sculpt when I saw the thumbnail at the bottom where they show the DD's. Really looks great whether from afar or up close. Congratulations! :D

So far, it looks like it. I don't watch anime, so I can confidently say it wasn't influenced by that either. I assume the anime/manga is what you meant. Although to be honest, "titan" is a tiny bit open-ended term, being used so much in Fantasy in general.

Haha, nothing wrong with watching anime. I am even one of the two people in the world who study Japanese and don't watch anime or like Japanese music, so it's even a semi-topical comment.

Well now... this is creepy as all Hell... LOL     So disturbing, yet done very well. I can't tell where one ends and the other begins, or if they are merging or multiplying. I guess that is for our interpretation, and I am stuck between thought. I guess they are technically as well.

I'm glad to hear that you can see the intentional vagueness or open-ended approach I have for art in general. I avoid making too obvious statements on what exactly is going on in the picture, leaving people to make their own conclusions.

Well, I approach the sculptures I do the same way I would approach physical sculptures. In fact, I don't really consider myself a "proper" 3D artist at all, since I have no interest at all in "modelling" things, or anything. I do 90% of the work in 3Dcoat and then just render it later on.

nornally i don't go to much for this kind of "stuff" but this is so very well executed and i like the concept of the bodies linked together...
congrats to this DD...

btw. the concept reminds me of the works of - ha, what was his name again? a german painter who painted one person in several versions on one picture - oh boy, i so wish the name would come to my mind - i suppose tomorrow morning i have it, haha...

I'm afraid I don't know the artist's name. The description does ring a bell, but I think there's been quite a few painters who have done the same thing since, though.

yes, that maybe true - but this afternoon the name came to my mind - johannes gruetzke... i saw some of his original paintings in a big post WWII exhibition in berlin in the 80s... i must admit i didn't like too much of the works in that exhibition but i remember that i was quite impressed by grützke's works - they were big and sort of distorted realistic...
in the net i found only one example of the style i told you about - "die befreiung der frau durch die frau" not exactly what i would like to have showed you... ahm, sort of "the liberation of the woman through the woman"(?) well, it's the same woman taking off the string which bind her hands and finally showing it to the viewer...

well, i hope this link works...

btw. just today when i was underway in the city i took an interesting snapshot of a shop window - at the moment i'm not so much into editing photos, but maybe i find the time to work on this one - if so i'll show you...
thanx for answering, have a nice day... :D

I must say that this is a very impressive work, this caught my attention as soon as I saw it. Are they one body? I mean, I only see like 2 legs but many heads. But because of the tittle, it could be that they are only mentally there but not physically there. I am probably not making any sense :p
But I really like this, I see it like he is either going down or pulling himself up. But if there are physically there as one body, they could be too heavy for him to walk. I dont know, I am wondering what was going to your mind when you created this piece, what were you thinking of displaying?

Thank you. Well, they are one body, at least in the sense that I didn't physically differentiate them. Whether they're the same person on or something else is completely up to the viewer. As for what I was thinking of, I usually tend to leave my pieces as open-ended as possible. My only nod towards telling what I was thinking is the title. I also tend to do artworks about concepts (emotions, ideas, feelings, diseases, moods) more than actual physical/real things, if you understand what I mean.

Todella voimakas kuva. Osaat yhdistää irvokkaan ja herkän upeasti. Ja helekutti näiden yksityiskohtien määrä on ihan huikaiseva! Textuurit, kädet ja varpaat ovat erityisen hienot. Täysin luonnollisen näköiset näinkin 'luonnollisessa' kuvassa! Todella hyvä kokonaisuus!

Onko tällä kaverilla tarinaa tai paikkaa jossakin projektissa?
